We haven’t been short of news (mostly bad, some good) this year, so when a celebrity switches up their haircut, it can feel like “news” of the light relief kind. Whether cutting in a brand new fringe, a shorter-than-usual bob or a fresh new color, a celebrity deigning to try something new often inspires the rest of us to do the same. And there’s really no better way to reinvigorate oneself than going for the chop—especially this time of year.
Here we take a look at some of the most notable cuts of 2025 to inspire your new year moodboard.
Pamela Anderson’s micro fringe

Pamela Anderson continued her make-up-free reign this year, this time with the addition of a decisive chop. An excellent take on the bixie—that sweet spot between a bob and pixie—the cut features plenty of shape and layers.
Anderson has been wearing it curly, straight and everything in between, proving the versatility of the cut, which also, incidentally, features a fringe that can be swept to the side or worn forward. Kudos, also, for the directional micro-fringe at the Met Gala. All hail, Pammy—who needs makeup when you’ve got a statement cut like this?
Olivia Dean’s cloud curls

Taylor Hill
There’s scarcely a TikTok video untouched by an Olivia Dean soundtrack, but as well as her dulcet tones, we’re quite enamoured with her hair, often styled by hairstylist Rachel Polycarpe. Worn with plenty of volume and a brushed-out finish, her cloud of curls seems to float on stage—and is every bit as show-stopping as the singer herself.
Greta Lee’s sculptural buns
And the award for the best up-do goes to Greta Lee, whose sculptural buns—created by hairstylist Jenny Cho—have been second to none this year. Polished and sleek, the styles have ranged from intricate knots to elegant twists, delivering all the A-list elegance we expect from the red carpet. Undeniably technical and not for the faint-hearted, these up-dos demand precision and a sharp eye—bravo to Cho for nailing the brief time and time again.
Zoë Kravitz’s wet-look waves

XNY/Star Max
Zoë Kravitz is forever switching things up in the hair department, which made choosing just one look no easy task. Ultimately, it was the beachy waves and wet-look side fringe (by Nikki Nelms) she wore for an appearance at Jessica McCormack in September that won us over. Alluring, undone and oh-so-cool, the style was the perfect way to spotlight the star’s killer cheekbones—as if they needed any help.
Mia Goth’s liquid gloss

Soft, fluid and finished with almost liquid-like waves through the ends, Mia Goth’s chocolatey hair is made even better by those stellar curtain bangs. Wearable and pretty, it strikes the perfect balance between luxurious and effortless—polished without feeling overdone. The cherry on the cake? That rich, lustrous color was created by colorist John Clark.
Jessie Buckley’s classic pixie
Dave Benett
Pixie cuts don’t get much better than the style Jessie Buckley wore to the Hamnet press screening in Los Angeles. Styled by Bryce Scarlett with a deep side parting, subtle movement and a polished finish, the look struck a perfect balance between grown-up and minimalist—all the while putting Buckley’s arresting features front and centre.
Ella Purnell’s Pulp Fiction bob
Steve Granitz
It was a big year for the micro-fringe—once a divisive cut reserved only for the very brave. Alongside Anderson and Miley Cyrus, Sweetpea actor Ella Purnell has been wearing the look in enviable style. Channelling Pulp Fiction’s Mia Wallace, her cut features curved ends and a short but seductive fringe—and is that a hot copper color? It seals the deal.
Sofia Richie-Grainge’s French bob
The French bob is one of those haircuts that never seems to go out of style—and Sofia Richie debuted hers at one of France’s finest hotels, Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc (also where she tied the knot in 2023). Grazing the jawline, the cut was created by hairstylist George Curran, who delivered a perfectly choppy yet blunt finish through the ends. One to bookmark if you’re considering going short next year.
Ayo Edebiri’s blunt bangs

Ayo Edebiri rarely puts a foot wrong in the hairstyle department. Case in point? This graphic fringe—AKA the perfect partner to groomed brows and her infectious smile. She paired it with a ’90s up-do on the Academy Awards Gala red carpet in October. Chef’s kiss!
Jennifer Lawrence’s girl-next-door fringe

Taylor Hill
Curtain bangs are a failsafe face-framing detail—and Jennifer Lawrence got them just right this year. Softly graduating into the lengths of her hair, she wore them with just the right amount of definition and texture, swept back to give a perfectly imperfect, slightly un-styled finish. Cool-girl bangs, done right.
Kris Jenner’s graphic cut

Mike Marsland
Kris Jenner didn’t just debut a headline-making new face this year—she also unveiled a seriously flattering new haircut: a blunt-cut bob. And just like its wearer, it proved impressively versatile. Never one to hold back on serving a look, Jenner styled it with a short, choppy fringe – with mega root volume and sculptural, kicked-out ends – and swept into full glamazon waves. Proof, if ever it were needed, that a new haircut can be transformative at any age.
