A madrasa leader in the city has been taken into custody by Bengaluru police on charges of molesting four girls, one of whom is eleven years old.
The event took place in the Hegde Nagar neighborhood of Bengaluru on February 16. A CCTV camera placed on the madrasa’s grounds also caught it.
Mohammed Hasan, the 19-year-old defendant, is the son of the hostel manager where the event occurred.
Hasan is seen repeatedly kicking and thrashing the girl viciously in the CCTV clip.
The arrest was made after the mother of the 11-year-old child filed a complaint at the Kothanur police station on Wednesday. In her complaint, the parent stated that in July 2024, her daughter was admitted to the madrasa and its hostel’s fifth standard.
The Times of India said that the girl’s parents reside in Yeshwantpur and work for themselves.
Police said that Mohammed Hasan, the son of the hostel manager, frequently visited the hostel.
A senior police officer stated that officers at the Kothanur police station apprehended the accused after filing a case under sections 115 (voluntarily inflicting hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 75 (penalty for cruelty to minors) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The complaint claims that Hasan called the child into the office at 4:30 p.m. on February 16 and began physically abusing her while others looked on without intervening.
