Andrew Bosworth, the CTO of Meta, told Business Insider that employees who are unhappy with the tech giant’s most recent regulations are allowed to go. One year after laying off 30% of its North American staff as part of a reorganization, Getaround, a firm that assists car owners in renting out their cars, trucks, and SUVs to other peers, is closing its U.S. operations. It is also closing its HyreCar division, which it purchased for $9.45 million in 2023. On Monday, a group of investors led by Elon Musk made a $97.6 billion proposal to acquire OpenAI. Marc Toberoff, Musk’s attorney, provided The Wall Street Journal with confirmation of the story. The unsolicited proposal is the most recent development in Musk’s conflict with co-founder Sam Altman, with whom he co-founded OpenAI in 2015 along with a host of other people. When Emily Kramer, the former vice president of marketing for cap table management company Carta, filed a lawsuit in 2020, claiming retaliation and gender discrimination, the case garnered national attention.  In 2023, that case was resolved.
