Egypt has taken a major step towards expanding its offshoring industry with the signing of 55 strategic agreements between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and leading multinational and local companies.

The deals were announced at a ceremony in Cairo on Thursday under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, attended by Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, alongside senior representatives from major firms including Teleperformance, Accenture, Deloitte, VOIS, Luxoft, RSA and Capgemini.

The new partnerships are expected to generate more than 70,000 jobs in business process outsourcing, IT, engineering and advanced technology services. The initiative forms part of Egypt’s long-term strategy to strengthen its knowledge-based economy and enhance its competitiveness in global digital delivery.

Dr Talaat said Egypt’s rapid rise as a hub for technology and digital services reflected its strong infrastructure, government vision and skilled workforce. “Egypt has quickly become a leading hub for technology and digital services, driven by strategic vision, strong infrastructure, and a skilled, youthful workforce,” he said.

“Our success is built on RISE: Reliable talent with over 760,000 graduates yearly, including 50,000 ICT specialists; Infrastructure readiness; Strategic proximity; and an Efficient cost structure. At this year’s Global Offshoring Summit, 55 international companies are expanding in Egypt, creating over 70,000 jobs in the next three years, reflecting global confidence in Egypt as a trusted partner.”

Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, said the scale of the agreements marked an important milestone for the country’s digital economy. “Signing 55 agreements with leading global and local players is a milestone for Egypt’s digital economy. Three years since launching the Offshoring Strategy, we are grateful to our partners for establishing or expanding global delivery centres here — their success is our success. With Egypt’s abundant talent, we are confident in reaching our full potential,” he said.

The agreements underline Egypt’s growing role as a regional and global centre for business services. With its combination of skilled labour, competitive costs and strong digital infrastructure, the country is positioning itself as one of the leading destinations for international offshoring and IT-enabled services.
